If you read my most recent blog post, you’ll no doubt be aware of how linen has taken center stage in my wardrobe this summer. Today I’m continuing with this theme and sharing a couple of pairs of linen trousers which I’ve been wearing on repeat during the last few months. These were featured in my Summer wardrobe essentials video on my YouTube channel which I have linked at the end of this post, in case you’re interested in watching. Whether I’m working from home or out on the weekend, these are the wardrobe heroes which I’ve been able to reduce my cost per wear down to a tiny amount since adding them to my closet.
What I’m wearing: White linen paper-bag waist trousers from Lauren by Ralph Lauren; Striped t-shirt by Saint James; Hermès Oran sandals in tan; Chloé Nile bracelet bag in biscotti beige; Hermès Clic H bracelet in white enamel with rose-gold hardware; Chanel cat-eye sunglasses in black with pearl detail.
The organic linen relaxed style trousers
After returning a beige pair of wide-leg linen trousers which I purchased from Arket last year, I was on the hunt for a similar pair with a straight leg style. After browsing online, I managed to locate the perfect pair from Country Road. A drawstring style with a straight leg, these pants are in the perfectly neutral beige shade – “Flax” is the actual colour name. This ensures they get additional mileage when paired back with the variety of neutral toned t-shirts and tank tops in my closet.
These linen trousers are made from 100% organic French linen and I’ve found that the fabric has softened up considerably after each wear. I initially purchased these online in a size 6 and then realized I could have sized down to a size 4 for a slimmer silhouette on the thighs. I loved them so much that I decided to keep them in a size 6 and after getting so much wear out of this pair, I purchased the size 4 recently. I’ve been wearing these multiple times a week and tend to style them with rolled up cuffs. They’re comfortable, breathable and exceptional value for money plus they come in a range of colours.
The paper-bag style linen trousers
For a slightly more stylish take on linen trousers, these ones from Lauren by Ralph Lauren are a great option. I initially purchased these in white and loved them so much that I decided to also add the dusty blue version to my closet. There’s also an ultra-summery yellow version available. Paper-bag style trousers are a new style favourite of mine which means having the option of this particular design in a linen fabrication made complete sense for the summer.
These trousers are a straight leg design with functional pockets on each side. There are faux pockets on the back, a zip fly and a removable fabric waist tie which provides the option for you to mix up other belts for an updated style twist. I tend to wear these with the waist tie and again with the legs rolled up into cuffs to create a cropped or 7/8 effect. I feel these pants run slightly large so if you are considering purchasing these then I’d recommend for you to size down, especially if you have a small waist.
It’s not often that we manage to find a particular piece which matches with our personal style and what we’re after in terms of design and fabric down to a tee. So, when we do find these closet gems, considering adding the same item in a different colour often makes perfect sense. These are the linen trousers that will keep you not only looking stylish but also feeling comfortably cool during the summer season, whether you’re working from home, off duty on the weekends or relaxing on holiday.
